For managers

Review and resolve team absences

Check a request, review team coverage, and record the appropriate decision. This article is for managers with access to their team's absences.

Contents

Before you start

You need access to Team absences and scope over the person making the request. A manager role does not automatically grant access to every company absence; if a person or action is missing, ask an administrator to review your permission and scope.

Review and approve requests

  1. Open Team absences.
  2. Select a pending request within your scope.
  3. Check the person, category, period, and whether it covers full days or specific hours.
  4. Review the explanation, documents, and overlap warnings.
  5. Record the appropriate decision under company policy.

When you approve, Talento may notify the employee, update the allowance, and add the absence to calendars and reports. When you reject, the absence does not take effect.

Check team coverage

  1. Review overlaps with other absences during the same period.
  2. Check the calendar and team needs.
  3. If an on-call duty is affected, confirm who can provide cover.
  4. Record the replacement when Talento requires it to complete the decision.

An overlap is a prompt to review coverage, not an automatic reason to reject.

Create or correct a team absence

  1. To create one, select Add an absence for another employee.
  2. Choose the person and check the category, dates, and times before saving.
  3. To correct one, open an accessible request from Team absences.
  4. Change or delete it only when its status and your permissions allow.

Retain the explanation and necessary documents so the change remains understandable later.

Outcome

The request will show the recorded decision. If approved, Talento applies its effects to allowances, calendars, and reports according to the category.

Common issues

  • A person does not appear: ask an administrator to review your management scope.
  • You cannot decide: your permission may be read-only or another approver may be required.
  • The request has a correctable error: while it is pending, ask the employee to correct it or use the available management action before rejecting it.
  • An on-call duty prevents approval: first name the person who will provide cover when Talento requires it.
