Before you start
You need permission to administer access and schedules. Define which groups should be able to view or manage Absences and which employees each manager should cover before configuring blocked periods.
Control who can view and manage absences
- Review the Absences permission for each relevant group.
- Distinguish read access from permission to create, approve, or correct requests.
- Check the scope assigned to each manager.
- Test access with a representative profile.
The permission enables feature actions; scope determines which people appear in Team absences. Talento does not automatically broaden access because someone has a manager role.
Prevent requests on blocked dates
- Open Blocked days.
- Add a named period with a start and end date.
- Save the period.
- Configure its visibility to decide whom it covers.
- Test a date within the period using a category that deducts available days.
Talento rejects the request when the employee is covered by the blocked period and the category deducts an allowance. Categories that do not deduct available days may be handled differently.
Warning
Blocked days prevent requests under these rules; they do not change a schedule or record an absence themselves.
Outcome
Each group will have the configured access level, and covered employees will be unable to request allowance-deducting categories during blocked periods.
Common issues
- Someone can open the feature but cannot see their team: review their scope as well as their permission.
- They can read but not approve: review the group's management access.
- The block does not apply: check its visibility, dates, and whether the category deducts available days.
- You need to configure the work calendar: see Schedules and shifts; a blocked period does not replace that configuration.
