Request and manage my absences

Create a request, check its status, and correct it while it remains pending. This article is for anyone managing their own absences.

Contents

Before you start

You need access to Absences and at least one available category, such as Annual leave, Personal leave, or Sick leave. Each company configures its categories, allowances, required documents, and approval process.

If the category you need is missing, ask a Talento administrator to check whether it is active and available to your profile.

Request an absence

  1. Open Absences and select New absence.
  2. Choose the category that matches the reason.
  3. Enter the first and last dates.
  4. Turn off All day and enter the times if the absence is not for a full day.
  5. Add an explanation and the necessary documents.
  6. Review the period and save the request.

Talento calculates the duration using your working day, work calendar, and category rules. If it detects overlapping team absences or on-call duties, review the warning before saving; the manager will decide whether there is sufficient cover.

Warning

Do not create another request for the same period without checking the first. You could create a duplicate or an unnecessary conflict.

Check the status and days available

  1. Open My absences.
  2. Filter by date or status.
  3. Open the request to review its category, period, duration, explanation, and documents.
  4. Check whether it is Pending, Approved, or Rejected.

Categories that use an allowance deduct days after approval. A pending or rejected request does not deduct days, and the calculated duration may differ from the number of calendar days.

Change or cancel a request

  1. Open the request from My absences.
  2. While it remains Pending, change the category, dates, times, explanation, or files.
  3. Save and check the updated period, or delete the request if you no longer need it.

Approved and rejected requests are locked for the employee. Ask a manager or administrator to correct one; do not create a duplicate to replace it.

Outcome

The request will appear in My absences with its current status. Once approved, Talento adds it to the relevant calendars and updates the allowance if the category deducts days.

Common issues

  • The action is missing: the module may be inactive or your profile may have read-only access. Ask an administrator to review access.
  • A category is missing: do not choose a similar one; ask for its configuration to be checked.
  • The allowance does not match: check the status first, then ask for your work calendar and category rules to be reviewed.
  • You cannot edit: an approved or rejected request must be corrected by someone with management permission.
