Before you start
The Skills area records employees' abilities, knowledge, licences, and certifications. A skill can be awarded through successful training or added manually with its date and supporting evidence. When periodic renewal is required, Talento calculates the expiry date and can warn people in advance.
Managers can review the skills of employees within their scope, while the organisation can set coverage targets for a company, office, team, or individual employee.
Information
Employees do not currently have a separate personal catalogue where they can add or edit their own skills. Skills earned through training appear at course completion; authorised employees manage the full inventory, dates, and evidence from the employee record.
Review an employee's skills
- Open Employees.
- Select an employee within your management scope.
- Open the Skills tab.
- Review the category, supporting details, obtained date, last renewal, and expiry date.
- Correct the record or arrange renewal when information is missing.
The employee record summarises their total skills and which ones expire. Use the details to document the source of the qualification, without adding personal information that is not needed.
Use the skills dashboard
Open the skills dashboard to compare coverage by skill category. Filter by company, office, or team within your scope and see how many employees hold skills in each category.
Coverage percentages help reveal concentrations and gaps, but they do not replace checking dates. A category may appear well covered even when several certifications are about to expire.
Tip
Combine the skills dashboard with the training and compliance report. The dashboard summarises coverage; the report provides history, dates, and evidence for investigating a need.
Result
The employee record and skills dashboard show the coverage and dates available within your management scope.
Troubleshooting
If an option is missing, it may depend on your permissions, active modules, or company configuration. Ask an administrator to review your access rather than repeating the task or choosing an unsuitable alternative.
