Before you start
A lead is a possible commercial relationship that still needs validation. Record the company or person, acquisition source and campaign, assign an owner, schedule follow-up, and decide whether the lead should become a customer, contact, or opportunity.
Statuses are New, Contacted, Qualified, Discarded, and Converted. Use them for real decisions rather than as a measure of how long a lead has been waiting.
Information
The Leads feature is part of the CRM. You can only view or change leads available to you, and editing depends on your CRM permission.
Create a lead
- Open Leads.
- Select Add lead.
- Provide at least one identity: company, contact name, or email.
- Add phone, job title, source, and campaign when known.
- Assign an owner.
- Complete the available custom fields.
- Save the lead.
Talento records the capture date and calculates a score from 0 to 100 using available information, source, recent activity, and any open opportunity. Use the score to organise work, not as a substitute for commercial judgement.
Search and prioritise leads
Search by company, contact, email, or phone, and filter by:
- status;
- source;
- owner;
- campaign;
- score range;
- capture date;
- possible duplicates.
Start with new leads that have usable contact details and those awaiting an agreed response. Open the record and review its history and possible matches before acting.
Review possible duplicates
The lead page compares it with other leads, contacts, and customers. When Talento finds a possible match:
- open each result;
- compare company, name, email, and phone;
- decide whether it is the same commercial relationship;
- reuse the existing record during conversion when appropriate.
Warning
Do not automatically create a new customer during every conversion. Linking an existing company or contact prevents history, opportunities, and invoices from being split across duplicates.
Qualify a lead
Select Qualify when there is a credible fit and reasonable next commercial step. Assign or change the owner and add a note explaining the decision.
Qualification records its date, retains the owner, and can trigger configured automations. Follow the company's agreed process or convert the lead once you know which stable records are needed. See Sales activities for generated or manual follow-up.
Discard a lead
Use Discard when the contact should not progress. A reason is required; add a note when future users need more context.
Discarded leads remain searchable history. Do not delete them simply to clear the queue when their reason helps avoid repeated contact or evaluate source quality.
Result
The lead record shows its status, owner, score, history, and any qualification or discard decision.
Troubleshooting
If an option is missing, it may depend on your permissions, active modules, or company configuration. Ask an administrator to review your access rather than repeating the task or choosing an unsuitable alternative.
