Before you start
Surveys can collect opinions, check knowledge, or run one-off and recurring consultations. A survey can contain several sections and combine free-text, numeric, selection, rating, and date or time questions.
Participants respond from their personal area. People with survey-management permission decide who takes part, when the survey opens, whether responses are anonymous, and who can see the results.
Information
You only see surveys whose audience includes you or where you have been assigned as an evaluator. Creation and result access depend on your permissions.
Create a survey
- Open Survey management.
- Select New survey.
- Enter a name that makes its purpose clear.
- Enable NPS survey only when you need the 0–10 Net Promoter Score method.
- Save to open the survey builder.
For an NPS survey, you can customise the main question and choose whether to add a free-text question for comments. A standard survey starts with an empty section for the content you need.
Prepare the content
In the builder:
- Add an introduction explaining the purpose and how responses will be used.
- Split the survey into sections when it covers several topics.
- Add each question and choose the most suitable response type.
- Make only essential questions required.
- Order sections and questions so the response flow is easy to follow.
For selection and rating questions, review every option and label. When a selection question allows more than one answer, say so in the question so participants know what is expected.
Configure the audience and delivery
Use the builder controls to decide:
- Audience: employees, teams, offices, or other groups invited to participate.
- Schedule: the start date, end date, and delivery time.
- Frequency: one-time or recurring delivery.
- Privacy: identified or anonymous responses.
- Participant notification: whether Talento alerts people when the survey starts.
- Link-only access: keeps the survey out of the general list and opens it from a direct link, such as from a training course.
- Result visibility: whether participants or their managers can view results after responding.
- Scoring: whether answers produce a score and what counts as success.
Information
Selecting an audience and notifying it are separate choices. Without notifications, included participants can still find the active survey in Talento but receive no start alert.
Activate a survey
Review the readiness summary first. Every standard section must contain at least one question, and the survey must have the configuration it needs to start.
- Open the survey from Survey management.
- Recheck the audience, questions, privacy, and dates.
- Select Activate survey.
A future start date schedules the survey. A survey starting immediately becomes active and available to participants.
An active survey is read-only. Stop it before changing its content or configuration. A stopped survey with no responses returns to draft; if there has already been activity, the survey closes and retains its results.
Warning
Confirm privacy before activation. Changing the design after responses arrive can undermine how the results are interpreted and requires the survey to be stopped first.
Monitor participation
For an identified survey, the Participants area lets you:
- see who is pending, in progress, or complete;
- filter people by progress;
- review one person's iterations;
- remind people who have not finished.
Anonymous surveys do not expose an individual participant list. Use aggregate totals to understand participation without trying to identify specific answers.
Review and export results
The survey page provides a summary while the survey is active and after it closes. Review the response count, participation percentage, recent activity, and results for each question.
Select View full results to explore every section. NPS results also show promoters, passives, detractors, and the calculated score.
Select Export to download the results as an Excel file. Protect the export according to the confidentiality promised to participants, especially when it contains identified responses or free-text comments.
Tip
Share conclusions and concrete next actions first. People are more likely to trust future surveys when they understand what was learned and what will happen next.
Result
You can verify the result in the team view or the status described in the steps above.
Common issues
If an option is unavailable, it may depend on your permissions, active modules, or company settings. Ask an administrator to review your access; you do not need to repeat the task or choose an option that does not apply.
