Before you start
Talento uses permission groups to decide who can enter a feature, which actions they can perform, and which employees they can manage. A group might represent team managers, HR, Finance, or Recruitment.
Configuration has three steps:
- What the group can do: a permission level for each feature.
- Who it can act on: the employee scope that the group can view or manage.
- Who receives access: employees, teams, offices, companies, or roles assigned to the group, including the dates when access applies.
Information
A manager role and a permission group are related but different. The role describes a person's general position; the group defines the access Talento actually applies.
Understand the four permission levels
Each feature can use one of these levels:
- No access: the employee cannot use the feature.
- Read: they can view content shared with them but cannot create or edit it.
- Create: they can create content and edit their own.
- Manage: they can work with their own content and that of employees within the group's scope.
The exact names of some features depend on the company's active modules. Grant the lowest level that supports the real responsibility.
Distinguish permission, scope, and visibility
When someone cannot view or change something, check these layers separately:
- Feature permission: allows them to enter the feature and perform an action.
- Group scope: determines which employees a person with Manage permission can act on.
- Record visibility: some documents, projects, and other content have their own audience list.
Record visibility does not grant access to the module by itself. In the same way, being able to open a feature does not make every record visible.
Tip
Diagnose access with three questions: “Can they enter?”, “Which action are they attempting?”, and “Which employee or record is affected?”.
Result
You can verify the result in the team view or the status described in the steps above.
Common issues
If an option is unavailable, it may depend on your permissions, active modules, or company settings. Ask an administrator to review your access; you do not need to repeat the task or choose an option that does not apply.
