Before you start
Talento turns information that is often scattered across spreadsheets, documents, and isolated decisions into a connected system. You can define how work is organised, assign a contract to each employee, prepare effective-dated salary structures, and retain every compensation revision in their history.
The aim is not merely to store a salary. By connecting job positions, contracts, and salary tables, you can:
- apply consistent criteria to people doing comparable work;
- prepare future reviews without changing current remuneration;
- check who a new table will affect before applying it;
- explain where each amount came from and when it took effect;
- reduce errors involving legal entities, currencies, working time, seniority, or classification;
- provide better data for cost reports, job valuation, and pay equality.
Information
This guide is for administrators, HR teams, and managers with authorised access. Employees do not manage their contracts or salaries through this workflow. What each manager can review or change depends on their permission and employee scope.
Understand how contracts, job positions, and salaries connect
The main relationship is:
| Part | What it represents | How it connects |
|---|---|---|
| Legal entity | The company or legal organisation to which the salary data belongs | Defines the applicable job positions, concepts, tables, currency, and employees. |
| Professional group, family, and level | Ways to organise comparable work | Classify job positions and support report filters or band assignments. |
| Job position | A role that exists within the organisation | Brings together classification, duties, requirements, valuation, and salary references. |
| Contract | An employee's relationship with the company over a period | Assigns their job position, contract type, working time, dates, annual leave, and compensation. |
| Salary concept | The type of remuneration being paid | Identifies base salary, supplements, or other components. |
| Salary table | The stable compensation structure for a legal entity and currency | Contains effective-dated versions with bands, supplements, and amounts. |
| Compensation revision | A salary decision effective from a particular date | Retains the annual gross salary, source, lines, and reason applied to the contract. |
Every contract points to a job position. The position supplies its classification so that a salary-table version can find the applicable band and supplements. When you apply the result, Talento does not rewrite the past: it creates an effective-dated compensation revision.
Tip
Configure the system from general to specific: legal entity and concepts, professional classification, job positions, contracts, and finally salary tables. This order avoids correcting associations later.
Distinguish references, rules, and actual salary
Talento shows amounts in several places because they answer different questions:
- the job position's salary range is a general reference linked to the position and used in its valuation and reports;
- the salary table contains versioned rules, bands, supplements, and effective-dated amounts;
- the contract's annual gross salary is the employee's actual remuneration on a particular date;
- the contract's salary concepts detail operational components associated with that employee;
- the revision lines preserve the composition produced when a salary table was applied.
Do not treat the position's minimum and maximum as values that automatically update contracts. Use a salary table for controlled, effective-dated changes, or record a manual revision.
Result
You can check the result in the team view or in the status described in the steps above.
Common problems
If an option is missing, it may depend on your permissions, active modules, or company settings. Ask an administrator to review your access; you do not need to repeat the task or choose an option that does not fit.
