For sales teams

Prepare quotes

Create clear proposals with customer, validity, lines, prices, and terms. This article is for people who perform this task.

Contents

Before you start

The Quotes area helps you structure a commercial proposal before it becomes a sales order. Each document contains the customer, issue date, validity, products or services, quantities, prices, taxes, discounts, notes, and terms.

The workflow separates three decisions: preparing the proposal, approving it within the company, and recording whether it is accepted or declined. This makes the current state clear and preserves its relationship with the opportunity and sales order.

Information

Talento does not send the quote to the customer from this page. Use the company's agreed communication channel, then update the status in Talento when the relevant decision is known.

Create a quote

  1. Open Quotes.
  2. Select New quote.
  3. Choose the customer and confirm the issue date.
  4. Add a Valid until date when the proposal expires.
  5. Add at least one line with an item or description, quantity, price, and tax.
  6. Apply line or overall discounts where agreed.
  7. Add notes and terms needed to interpret the proposal.
  8. Save the quote.

You can choose a catalogue item to reuse its usual details or enter the line manually. Always verify the price and tax before saving.

Tip

A clear validity date and clear terms make internal review easier and prevent an old proposal from being mistaken for a current one.

Prepare a quote from an opportunity

If you use CRM, you can create the quote from an open opportunity. Talento copies the customer and available lines so you do not need to enter the information again.

Open the opportunity, start the quote from that context, and review the customer, quantities, prices, taxes, and terms. The quote remains linked to the opportunity so you can follow the full process.

See Opportunities for the earlier commercial workflow.

Edit a draft or rejected quote

Only Draft and Rejected quotes can be edited. Open the document and select Edit to change the customer, dates, lines, discounts, or terms.

Pending, approved, accepted, and declined quotes are locked to protect the recorded decision. If changes are still required, follow the company's rejection-and-correction process.

Result

You can verify the result in your personal area or through the status described in the steps above.

Common issues

If an option is unavailable, it may depend on your permissions, active modules, or company settings. Ask an administrator to review your access; you do not need to repeat the task or choose an option that does not apply.
