Before you start
The Goals area turns an objective into measurable results. Every goal has an owner, dates, a status, and one or more metrics. Progress updates create a history and feed the evolution chart.
You can also share a goal with other people, coordinate actions, and request updates on a schedule. This keeps follow-up from depending on a single conversation or an unexplained number.
Information
You only see goals that you own or that have been shared with you. Creating, editing, or configuring a goal requires the relevant permission; viewing and updating also depend on the access configured by the company.
Find a goal
- Open Goals.
- Review the total, active goals, and average progress for the results you can see.
- Filter by name, person, team, office, or status.
- Pin frequently reviewed goals.
- Open one to see its progress.
The list shows each goal's owner, dates, status, progress, and metrics. Use the status to distinguish planned or active work from outcomes marked Achieved, Not Achieved, or Discarded.
Understand metrics and progress
Each metric has a name, a target value, and accumulated progress. Overall goal progress is the average percentage across all its metrics.
The chart groups updates by metric and date. Read the numbers together with their explanations: two goals at the same percentage can have very different risks and next steps.
Tip
A useful metric describes a verifiable result, not merely an activity. “Publish 12 articles” measures progress more clearly than “Work on content.”
Record an update
- Open the goal.
- Select New update.
- Choose the metric the progress belongs to.
- Enter the value achieved in this update.
- Explain what changed and attach evidence when useful.
- Save and check the chart.
Talento adds the update values for each metric and caps its percentage at 100%. Enter only the progress made in this update, not the accumulated total, to avoid counting earlier work twice.
Warning
Do not use a negative update to correct an error without explaining it. If a previous figure is wrong, leave enough context for the history to remain understandable.
Coordinate actions and comments
The Messages tab keeps conversations related to the goal. Use it for decisions, blockers, and agreements that people with access should retain.
In Actions, create lists of concrete steps, add deadlines, and mark each item complete as work progresses. Actions organise the work, but goal progress comes from its metrics; update both when the underlying result changes.
Outcome
You can verify the result in your personal area or in the state described in the steps above.
Common problems
If an option does not appear, it may depend on your permissions, active modules, or company configuration. Ask an administrator to review your access; you do not need to repeat the task or choose an option that does not apply.
