Configure project work

Prepare the task categories and permissions the organisation uses for project work. This article is for people who configure or administer this feature.

Contents

Before you start

The Projects area keeps shared work on a board. A project can have dates, hour and cost limits, workflow lists, and assigned tasks. Within a task, the team can report progress, discuss the work, break it into actions, and record time or expenses.

The Projects page highlights pinned projects, outstanding task counts, and the next task or action. This gives you a practical starting point without opening every board.

Information

You only see projects available to you. Access to the feature and the ability to create or edit work depend on the subscription, your permissions, and the visibility set by the company.

Configure task categories

  1. Open Project settings.
  2. Select Task categories.
  3. Create a category with a name, description, colour, and icon.
  4. Keep the company set short and recognisable.

Categories make boards easier to scan and tasks easier to filter. Before deleting a category, check whether existing work still uses it.

Review permissions and access

The Projects permission determines who can open or manage this area. Each project's visibility then controls which employees or groups can find that particular project.

Grant editing access only to people who need to create or reorganise work. An employee can participate in visible tasks without being able to administer every company project.

Result

The settings and task-category lists show the configuration available to the organisation.

Troubleshooting

If an option is missing, check the active module, specific permission, and record scope. If the configuration is correct and the problem continues, keep the displayed message and contact support.
