Manage my notifications

Review pending alerts and configure how to receive them on each device. This article is for people completing this task.

Contents

Before you start

Notifications let you know when something may need your attention, such as a request changing status, a task being assigned to you, a deadline approaching, or another person taking an action related to you.

Talento collects these updates in your personal notification inbox. Each person sees only their own notifications, with the newest first.

Information

The notifications you receive depend on the features and rules configured by your company. Not every activity in Talento generates a notification.

Open the notification inbox

  1. Find the bell icon in the top bar.
  2. If the bell shows a number, you have unread notifications.
  3. Select the bell to open Notifications.

The heading shows how many notifications in the current list are still unread. Use the pagination controls to reach older notifications when they do not all fit on one page.

Review a notification

A notification can include:

  • a title summarising what happened;
  • a short description with the most relevant details;
  • how long ago it was created;
  • its Unread or Read status;
  • a View button when there is a related page.

Select View to open the request, task, document, or other record behind the update. Talento marks the notification as read when you follow this link.

Some notifications are informational and do not link to another page. You can read their full message directly in the inbox.

Mark notifications as read

To clear one item, select Mark as read on that notification.

To bring the whole inbox up to date:

  1. Open Notifications.
  2. Check that none of the unread items still needs your attention.
  3. Select Mark all as read.

The number on the bell updates as notifications change between unread and read.

Tip

Marking a notification as read does not complete or approve the related task. Use View and finish the required action on its own page.

Receive notifications on your device

You can also allow a supported browser to show Talento notifications on your computer or mobile device. This permission belongs to one browser on one device. Enabling it on your computer does not automatically enable it on your phone.

Enable notifications on a device

  1. Open your personal menu from the top bar.
  2. Select Notifications.
  3. Select Allow notifications.
  4. When the browser asks for permission, choose Allow.
  5. Confirm that the browser appears under Devices with notifications enabled.
  6. Select Send test notification to make sure delivery works.

Some browsers and mobile platforms require Talento to be installed as a web app before they can deliver push notifications. The notification settings page shows instructions for the browser and operating system you are currently using.

Disable notifications on one device

Under Devices with notifications enabled, select Disable notifications beside the browser you want to remove. Other registered devices remain enabled.

This only stops alerts on that device. Your notification inbox remains available from the bell in Talento.

Result

You can verify the result in your personal area or through the status described above.

Common problems

Check each part of the delivery path:

  1. Open Notifications to see whether the update reached your Talento inbox.
  2. Open Notifications from your personal menu and select Send test notification.
  3. Check that your browser allows notifications for your company's Talento address.
  4. Check whether your operating system is blocking notifications or using a focus mode.
  5. On a mobile device, check whether Talento needs to be installed as a web app.

Warning

If you blocked the browser permission when it first appeared, Talento cannot restore it for you. Allow notifications again in your browser or operating-system settings.
